The Red Devils suffered their worst defeat in Premier League history on Sunday, sparking several hilarious jokes and trolls.

March 5, 2023, has gone down as a historic day for Manchester United… but for all the wrong reasons!

The Premier League giants visited bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday as Ten Hag's men went in search of their first win at Anfield since 2016. Unfortunately, the Red Devils came away from their trip to Merseyside with their worst Premier League defeat ever.

Despite being the in-form team, Rashford and Co. were thrashed 7-0 by Klopp's men, with Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez all scoring a brace. As a result, Ten Hag and the Manchester United players, Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes in particular, were trolled mercilessly.

However, the jokes weren't simply reserved for the Old Trafford players and coaching staff. Gary Neville, a Manchester United icon and one of — if not the — most famous English pundits also found himself at the butt of several jokes.

Speaking ahead of the game, Neville was publicly confident and even went as far as saying this was the most relaxed he has ever been for a game at Anfield. Unfortunately, those words came back to bite him!

Jamie Carragher, a fellow pundit on Sky Sports, made sure to add insult to injury by trolling his co-worker on social media non-stop following the result. The Liverpool icon even managed to snap a selfie with an upset Neville and turned that image into his Twitter profile picture.

Even Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates joined in on the fun, poking fun at Gary after the former defender claimed Liverpool weren't even that great on Sunday. Check out this moment in the clip below (video is geo-restricted).

While that was a damaging result for the Red Devils, the English giants' season has still been remarkable. Nonetheless, league leaders Arsenal now sit 14 points ahead, albeit having played a game extra, while fifth-placed Liverpool are now only seven points adrift of Ten Hag's men with a game in hand.
