Mourinho breaks the internet with controversial Instagram post

March 10, 2023 By Oscar Rojas
The Special One reacted to the Italian Football Association's decision to hand him a two-match ban after his rant against Cremonese.

Jose Mourinho has once again made headlines for his behavior on the touchline, and while he seemed to be getting a chance to redeem himself, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has slapped the former Manchester United boss with a two-match ban.

Mourinho was sent off by the referee in the game Roma lost to Cremonese. The Special One was seen having a heated exchange with the game's authority, who is also being investigated after Mourinho revealed he had been insulted by the ref while having that argument. Mourinho appealed the initial decision by the FIGC, and while some believed he would escape being punished, the Italian Federation ruled the opposite way and handed him a two-match suspension.

Mourinho, controversial as he is, decided to protest in true "Special One fashion", and took it to his Instagram account to voice his discomfort on this matter.

This is not the first time in which Mourinho has been seen with this pose, as he did the exact same protest back in 2010, when his "handcuffed pose" became a trend after a match between Inter and Sampdoria.

Roma players and execs have also reacted to this decision with outrage, and to protest the FIGC's ruling, the team has decided not to speak to the media before or after any of their upcoming two games, the ones Mourinho will not be around to coach. Those matches will see the giallorossi facing Sassuolo and Lazio, with the latter being a key match in their hopes to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
