The former Real Madrid and Tottenham player retired from professional football after leading the Dragons to their first World Cup since 1958 last year.

Fans across the globe knew that Gareth Bale was keen on hanging up his boots after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and while the former winger has not changed his mind, the moment to see him closer to the pitch in a new role could be coming soon.

In a recent interview with The Mirror, Welsh National Team coach Rob Page referred to Gareth Bale's involvement with the Dragons. The tactician admitted that initial contacts between the team and Bale had the former footballer ready to become a spokesman and ambassador for the Welsh side, but his contribution to the team could be even more relevant to matters on the pitch.

"We will get together and discuss the role we have planned for Gareth Bale. He is interested. We appreciate his value and what he can bring to this team," Page stated without clearly stating the duties Bale would perform.

The coach for the Welsh side in the 2022 World Cup admitted that, even if Bale will be joining the team (or his staff), his experience will be missed on the pitch.

"Gareth was a loyal servant for the team and an amazing player. We will miss him a lot on the pitch," Page added.

The former Real Madrid player will not be joining Wales for the upcoming international break, as there is barely no time to make that happen. According to the report, Bale could be joining the Dragons this summer, when their run to qualify for the UEFA Euro continues.
