Van Dijk sends daring request to Liverpool bosses

Van Dijk sends daring request to Liverpool bosses following UCL exit

March 17, 2023 By Oscar Rojas
The Dutch defender has shared his thoughts on the team's plans for the near future and to boost the team in the offseason.

It has not been an easy season for Liverpool, and once the team has been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, club defender Virgil Van Dijk has shares his frustration about the team's performance and how they can turn things around.

Speaking in a press conference, the Dutch defender did not hold back when asked about an assessment on how the Reds can improve their lackluster performance for this season, and the center back was adamant on one specific issue: the team needs reinforcements.

The defender gave an example using Roberto Firmino's exit, and how this could be a good thing for Liverpool to keep up with good teams across the continent.

Obviously, players are going to leave. That's been announced so if we want to be where we have been the last five years, we need quality imports, especially with those players leaving," Van Dijk stated.

The defender went on regarding the team's additions, while also urging his bosses to keep this in mind when they plan which players they want to sign.

"Everyone knows that's going to be very difficult. It is going to be very difficult to find the right players but the club has to do their job in this case," the defender added.

With the Reds sitting in sixth place of the Premier League, Van Dijk admitted that in order to lure talent to Anfield, the club will secure talent by offering the chance to play UEFA Champions League football next season.

"We still have a lot of games to play and we want to be in the Champions League. I think that will also help to attract the best players in the world. Not all the time but it will definitely help," Van Dijk concluded.
