Chelsea star "very likely to leave" this summer after appointing new agent

March 18, 2023 By Ali M.
The player, who will enter the final year of his contract this summer, is already garnering interest from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle.

After their massive spending spree under Todd Boehly and Co., Chelsea are reportedly planning a squad overhaul this summer to balance the books and stay clear of FFP issues.

However, while fans are happy to see the likes of Havertz, Pulisic, Ziyech, and Loftus-Cheek leave, one talented member of Graham Potter's squad could also depart this summer.

That man is none other than Mason Mount, the English midfielder who remains one of the most talented and highly-rated players at Chelsea irrespective of his dip in form recently.

The Three Lions ace, who was named the Blues' Player of the Year for the last two years, is involved in a tricky contract situation. The 24-year-old will be entering the final year of his Stamford Bridge deal this summer and has run into a few roadblocks during negotiations over an extension.

With that in mind, the player has appointed a new agent, thus sounding alarm bells over his future. Furthermore, the reliable Fabrizio Romano reports that a summer exit is now "very likely".

Neil Fewings, the player's new representative, will now aid the Englishman in talks. This will likely include both conversations with Chelsea over a new deal and discussions with rival clubs interested in signing Mount.

Despite assisting four goals in seven UEFA Champions League outings this season, Mason has only five goal contributions in 23 Premier League games this term. Nonetheless, the Chelsea graduate isn't short on suitors as Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle are all reportedly keen on signing the midfielder.

Mount and the London giants are at loggerheads over the terms of a new contract, with Boehly and Co. being unwilling to go any higher than what they have already offered. However, the player doesn't look to have fallen out of love with his boyhood club, which means a U-turn could be possible.

Potter's men will be in action in the English top flight this weekend ahead of the upcoming international break. The Blues will welcome Everton on Saturday as they go in search of a third consecutive win in the league, a feat they have failed to achieve since October.
