Dejan Stankovic, who is one of Jose's former players, was on the receiving end of racist chants during Sunday's fixture. However, the Special One could not stand by and do nothing.

Jose Mourinho has once again gone viral on social media. However, this time, it has nothing to do with an epic rant but rather a classy moment from the Portuguese boss during Roma's clash with Sampdoria on Sunday.

The Serie A heavyweights were in action over the weekend at their iconic Stadio Olimpico, with the home side needing a win to make up ground in the top-four race. And that is precisely what the Giallorossi did, beating i Blucerchiati 3-0 to move level on points with Inter Milan.

However, there was one genuinely hideous moment during Sunday's showdown. Jeison Murillo was sent off from the visitors, sparking anger from Sampdoria boss Dejan Stanković. Dejan's protest did not go down well with the home fans, with Roma Ultras in the Curva Sud deciding to abuse the opposition manager racially.

However, Mourinho, who witnessed the chants and Stankovic's anger at being racially targetted, got up from the dugout and intervened, urging the fans to cease and be quiet. Check out this moment in the clip below.

For anyone that does not remember, Stankovic is one of Mourinho's former players. The Serbian was an Inter Milan midfielder during the Special One's historic spell in charge of the Nerazzurri, helping the Italian giants lift the treble.

Speaking after the game, the 44-year-old gave insight into what was chanted and thanked his former manager for stepping in, saying (as per Football Italia):  "I thank Jose, because I didn't even notice, but as for the chants, I am proud of who I am. I am proud to be a gypsy."

Sadly, racism remains a prevalent issue in the beautiful game. However, the battle to end discrimination cannot decelerate. It remains to be seen whether Roma will be punished by the Italian FA but time will tell.
