The complicated financial situation for the Blaugrana side has given the team in question a chance to hire the highly-rated youngster on a free move.

Chelsea's season is heading to a massive disaaster, but that will not stop their owners in their effort to bring new talent to Stamford Bridge, and in this case, they could get a big boost to their squad on a free transfer.

According to a report issued by As, the English club is aware of Gavi's situation with Barcelona, and if things between the starlet and the Blaugrana side continue their current course, the English side will make it their first order of business to sign the highly-rated Spaniard.

If you remember correctly, the Barça homegrown footballer is out of a contract by the end of the season after the team failed to make way for his contract according to La Liga's standards. That setback even saw Gavi changing numbers from 30 to number 6 and back due to La Liga's rules about academy players. Now, since Gavi has played quite a few games with the first team, he needs to have a regular spot with the senior squad, something that is not possible right now due to their financial problems.

The report by As states that earlier this month, Chelsea representatives had a meeting with Gavi's agent, former footballer Ivan de la Peña. The purpose of that meeting was to give the player's inner circle a chance to look at the project Chelsea will apply to bring back the good old times to Stamford Bridge.

Discussions between the club and the player's agents went well, and both parties agreed to have one more meeting to go even further with Chelsea's plan, this time with owner Todd Boehly leading the meeting and with Gavi's parents involved in all converstions.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Chelsea's plan will see them offering Gavi a massive deal for his services, but that will not be the only thing to keep an eye on. The report by As adds that a key part of this plot will be the team's intention to hire Luis Enrique as their coach next season, something that should be appealing enough for the footballer, since Luis Enrique knew very well about Gavi's skills during his time with the Blaugrana club.

Gavi is still keen on playing for Barcelona next season, but if that is not possible due to the team's financial issues, then the footballer could become the cornerstone of Chelsea's ambitious project.
