The Argentine suffered a worrying foot injury during Thursday's 2-2 draw at home to Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League, sparking fears from Manchester United fans.

Manchester United's clash with Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals came at a huge cost as star defender Lisandro Martinez was carried off the pitch after suffering a worrisome injury.

This occurred late on in the clash with Sevilla, with the Red Devils having used all of their subs by this point. Countryman Acuna and Montiel helped the World Cup winner off the pitch, with Ten Hag later admitting that the injury "doesn't look great".

Additionally, the 25-year-old was seen leaving the stadium on crutches, sparking fear that his season is over. With the club fighting for the UEFA Europa League crown, a top-four finish, and the FA Cup, this would be a huge blow.

While an official statement is yet to be released by the Red Devils, the early diagnosis has been released and it's not great news for the English giants. According to reports coming out of Argentina, including well-known Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, the center-back has fractured a fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

The Athletic later corroborated this story, adding that Martinez looks set to miss the rest of the season. This issue could take up to eight weeks to heal. If Manchester United make the FA Cup final, then they would have only seven weeks of football left, meaning the Argentine might not be seen again this campaign.

This will be a huge blow for the Red Devils, not only for their Europa League campaign but for their top-four race as well. Ten Hag's men are in fourth, trailing third-placed Newcastle on goal difference, and are only three ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham.

Additionally, Raphael Varane was forced off with a foot injury and while that issue is being assessed, there are fears he could miss the remainder of the season as well. However, the club are more hopeful about the Frenchman.

On top of that, Marcus Rashford is also sidelined due to a groin injury. However, Manchester United's top scorer is expected to return before the season ends.

Next up for Ten Hag's men is an interesting Premier League showdown with Nottingham Forest, with Steve Copper's side battling relegation. After that is the 2nd-leg tie with Sevilla as a depleted Manchester United look to make it to the semifinals.
