  • Nice (2) vs (2) Basel

What are the top games to watch in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinals?

AZ Alkmaar vs Anderlecht

Can AZ Alkmaar overturn a 2-0 deficit and progress to the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinals? This is the question on everyone's mind as the Dutch side prepare to host Anderlecht in the 2nd leg. The hosts were on a four-game winless run in their domestic league but ended that streak over the weekend with a  3-0 win at Fortuna Sittard and will look to replicate that exact same result on Thursday.

Anderlecht, on the other hand, simply need to defend their lead. Goals from Michael Amir Murillo and Majeed Ashimeru handed the Belgian club a comfortable advantage heading into this AFAS Stadion showdown. However, Paarswit were recently beaten, going 5-2 down against domestic league leaders Genk, showing that they are beatable.

West Ham vs Gent

One of West Ham or Gent will make the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinals for the first time ever, but with the scoreline tied at 1-1, to the victor go the spoils. The Hammers boast the home advantage and after fighting from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Premier League leaders Arsenal at the London Stadium over the weekend, David Moyes' men should fancy their odds. While the English club are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone than they would like, West Ham currently sit four points above the drop.

Gent, meanwhile, aren't in danger of going down but are currently tied for fourth domestically and will have one eye on their race to qualify for Europe. The Belgian club could have lost the first leg as Kamil Piątkowski was sent off and the Hammers were awarded a penalty in stoppage time. However, intervention from VAR saw that decision get overturned. Nonetheless, beating West Ham at the London Stadium will be a difficult task. The visitors are currently on a three-game winless run, drawing all three outings, and will need to turn things around come this fixture.

Nice vs Basel

With this game tied 2-2, this result could go any way. While Nice boast the home advantage, the hosts are winless in their last five fixtures. Additionally, the Ligue 1 side have won only once in their last five home games and only four out of the last 10.

The visitors, meanwhile, have their own issues to overcome. The failure to beat Nice on home soil in the first leg means the Swiss giants boast only one win from their last six games. RotBlau have won three out of their last five matches away from home but the last two leading up to this crucial fixture did not go well, losing 3-0 at Young Boys before drawing with FC Zurich.
