The Brazilian ace will now battle with Robert Lewandowski for the No.9 spot with Los Blaugranas after an eight-year stay at Anfield.

Barcelona's search for reinforcements continues, and they have seemingly landed a key replacement to Robert Lewandowski with the signing of Roberto Firmino.

Considering the team's complications to sign top players due to their financial issues, Firmino's signing can be seen as a strategic move to give Robert Lewandowski a chance to rest in certain games. Added to that, the player will provide depth to the Blaugrana side at No.9.

The 31-year-old striker was supposed to be negotiating with the MLS, where St. Louis City was his preferred destination as a Designated Player. Nevertheless, according to the Daily Mail, the footballer decided to keep playing in Europe, where the chance of joining Els Culers was simply too appealing.

Firmino will join Barcelona after eight years playing for Liverpool, where he had a key role in the team's success that included winning a UEFA Champions League crown, a Premier League title in 2020, and a UEFA Super Cup, among other trophies.

This season, Firmino battled with injuries and was relegated to a substitute role, and while coach Jurgen Klopp tried to convince him to sign a contract extension, Firmino decided to search for pastures new.
