Simone Inzaghi will be once again pitted against his former side when Inter host Lazio on Sunday, April 30th.

Fresh off booking their spot in the Coppa Italia finals, where they will face surprise finalists Cremonese next month, Inter will now turn their attention back towards Serie A duties when they host Lazio on Sunday. Simone Inzaghi's side are also into the semi-finals of this year's Champions League, where they will face AC Milan in a highly-anticipated Milan Derby over two legs in May, but their performance in Serie A has left something to be desired.

At the moment, the Nerazzurri sit in sixth place, with just one win from their last five matches, which was a recent 3-0 win over Empoli thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku and a goal from Lautaro Martinez. Inter's hopes of winning the Scudetto are over with Napoli all but set to be crowned champions of Italy for the first time in over 30 years, but they still do have a realistic shot at securing Champions League football for next season. However, their poor showings as of late, which includes five losses in their last eight games and three consecutive home defeats without scoring, could make their battle to leap-frog the likes of Milan and Roma much trickier than anticipated.

Lazio, meanwhile, have surged up the table into second thanks to a brilliant run of form that included four wins on the spin before their shock 1-0 defeat to Torino last time out. Nonetheless, Maurizio Sarri's men have had a very strong campaign and now are making a serious push to finish second in the table. The Biancocelesti have had their struggles against Inter, with three consecutive away losses against the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but overall, they will be fancying their chances having beaten Inter 3-1 in the reverse fixture back in August.

The visiting side also come into this game more well-rested than their opponents as they are only involved in Serie A matches after exiting European and Coppa Italia competitions at an earlier stage. Will they successfully end their back luck at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in order to continue their push towards securing Champions League football? Or will Inter, encouraged by their tough win over Juventus recently, use that as a much-needed springboard to pick up some much needed points and claw their way back into contention for a top-four berth?
