The Portuguese playmaker inspired Manchester United to an important win by scoring a milestone goal.

Bruno Fernandes landed a personal milestone after inspiring Manchester United to another important win in Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa. The 28-year-old playmaker scored the only goal in the encounter to take his league career tally to 100, as the Red Devils ended Villa's 10-match unbeaten run under Unai Emery.

The win for United was secured in the first half, just before the 40th minute, thanks to the ingenious of Casemiro to make Villa pay for the high line they had deployed. The Brazilian's pass was directed towards an unguarded Marcus Rashford on the left flank, who aimed a shot from a tough angle. The Englishman forced Villa's goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to block the attempt, but failed to retain possession of the ball. This subsequently provided an opportunity for Fernandes to deliver a fantastic strike to score the only goal of the game.

With the strike, Bruno reached a century of goals in his club career, as he took his haul for Manchester United to 42. In Sporting, the Portuguese midfielder managed 39 goals, with his spell at Udinese, Sampdoria and Novara producing 10 goals, five goals and four respectively.

For United, they are now 15 games unbeaten at home in the league, and the result has seen them take a major step towards Champions League qualification. As things stand, the Red Devils are three points behind third placed Newcastle United with a game in hand.
