City will hope to extend their winning run when they take on West Ham at Etihad on Wednesday night.

Manchester City will host West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in another crucial Premier League outing. The reigning champions will be looking to reclaim their lead at the top of the table by taking advantage of one of their two games in hand.

With Arsenal defeating Chelsea 3-1 in Tuesdayy night's London derby, Pep Guardiola's men have been momentarily displaced. Currently occupying second position with just two points between them and the Gunners, the Citizens can climb right back to the top of the table should they manage a win over West Ham.

Pep Guardiola's side has been in incredible form lately, and will go into the mid-week's clash on the back of a 2-1 win on Fulham. A record-breaking goal by Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez's thunderbolt were enough to guide them past the Cottagers and they will be hopeful about replicating that result with the season at its business end.

So far, City have won 13 of their last 14 league and cup games, and are currently on an eight-match winning streak in the Premier League, the longest by any club in the division this season. Despite some defensive frailties in recent months, they have managed to outscore their opponents consistently.

As far as the upcoming clash with West Ham is concerned, Man City are not expected to have a lot of trouble at the Etihad Stadium. The home record of the defending champions is impressive, having accumulated 43 points from a possible 48 available. The fact that they have also won their last six meetings with West Ham at home gives a positive indication as far as their chances are concerned.

West Ham, on the other hand, have struggled for consistency, and are not in the best of forms. The Hammers come into the meeting with City on the back of back-to-back defeats, first losing 2-1 to Liverpool before suffering a 4-3 defeat away to Crystal Palace last weekend.

All is far from guaranteed for David Moyes and his team, as they sit five points above the relegation zone. While they dream of returning to winning ways, they will be required to put in the extra work as they have not had much success against Manchester City in recent times. The London club has only picked up just four points from their last 16 Premier League encounters with the Citizens while David Moyes has also never won a Premier League match as a manager versus Pep Guardiola.

With this complex task at hand, the Hammers will still be poised to turn things around in their favor.
