Regardless of whether the Qataris take over the Red Devils, Ten Hag could be left with a modest budget to work with given the type of players they are pursuing.

Manchester United fans have been made aware of the transfer budget for their beloved club for the upcoming summer transfer window and it is an uninspiring figure.

The Red Devils are currently on their way up under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutch manager leading the English giants to the Carabao Cup title, an FA Cup final, and possibly a top-four finish in his debut season.

And with the continental powerhouse being up for sale and with Qatari royal family member Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani being one of the frontrunners to replace the Glazers, many began tipping the club for an exuberant summer spending spree that would see them land some of the best players, ranging from Victor Osimhen to Harry Kane.

However, a report by the Athletic reveals that Manchester United will have a modest transfer budget even if the aforementioned Qatari billionaire bought the English giants. That figure is estimated to be £100M, roughly $126M.

This is due to FFP, with the Premier League heavyweights needing to sell well in order to raise more funds to back their manager. The likes of Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial could be sold while Scott McTominay is garnering interest from Newcastle.

However, it remains to be seen whether the club can find suitors for the aforementioned players and generate enough money to fund an overhaul of the squad. The 20-time English giants are on the lookout for a center-back, a right-back, a midfielder, a striker, and possibly a new keeper, but with that transfer budget, Ten Hag will have to prioritize.

The club spent over $266M last summer and are unable to keep this up after years of horrible investments. This includes the large fees spent on Paul Pogba, who left for free last summer, Jadon Sancho, who is yet to establish himself as a starter, and Harry Maguire, who they made the world's most expensive defender in history.

As a result, the Glazer family is open to a complete sale of Manchester United or selling off a minority stake in exchange for an injection of cash that will be invested in the squad and the stadium. The presumption was that the potential arrival of Sheikh Jassim would alleviate these financial issues, hence the large support from the Old Trafford fan base, but that is no longer the case.

It will be interesting to see how the club maneuver this summer should they secure a return to UEFA Champions League football, which looks to be a formality at this point. The Red Devils are fourth in the table with 63 points, four ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool, but Ten Hag's men have played two fewer games than the Merseyside giants.

Rashford and Co. are through to the FA Cup final where they will face Manchester City for the chance to win a second piece of silverware. However, their focus right now is on their upcoming clash with Brighton, with the Carabao Cup holders visiting the Seagulls in Thursday's highly-anticipated encounter.
