The rivals of Los Blaugrana’s cross city rivals invaded the field at RCDE Stadium to halt celebrations.

Barcelona players were left running for their lives after allegedly being chased by angry Espanyol fans inside the RCDE Stadium on Sunday. The Blaugrana stars who were celebrating their league title win with the night's result, had their jolly moment cut short following a pitch invasion by the supporters of their local rivals.

In the hugely anticipated affair, a brace from Robert Lewandowski as well as maiden goals from Alejandro Balde and Jules propelled Barca past Espanyol, with Javier Puado and Joselu getting the consolations for the hosts. While the results established Xavi's men as the new champions of Spain, it denied Los Periquitos the chance to potentially move out of the relegation zone.

Following the conclusion of the game, the Barcelona players and staff took to the pitch to celebrate their first-ever league title  under head coach Xavi Hernandez. However, the memorable moment did not last long, as Espanyol fans stormed the pitch in their numbers and headed for the players.

Nevertheless, the Barcelona players and  staff were quick to ran and take cover in the dressing room, as the home fans made their anger at the result and the club's current situation known. With just four matches left to play, the white and blue are in 19th position, and are four points away from safety.
