The Argentine ace is set to leave the club this summer, and the team's hierarchy has identified a low-cost option to fill his shoes.

The relationship between PSG and Lionel Messi has turned out to be quite shambolic in recent times, but the French club will not remain with its arms crossed when it comes to finding a replacement for the South American, and it will reportedly be one footballer Messi is quite familiar with.

Recent reports coming in from France suggest that the Ligue 1 leaders have identified the man that will fill the void left by Messi once his contract comes to an end. The footballer in question not only plays for a Ligue 1, but has also been part of Barcelona's history, like "La Pulga" himself. The player's name is none other than Alexis Sánchez, currently at Olympique Marseille and who's contract with the white and blue is about to expire as well.

The Chilean defender has emerged once again as a force to be reckoned with at Olympique Marseille, but he has demanded to be part of a team playing Champions League football next season. To do that, Marseille must win all games left in the season hoping Lens -or PSG- drop points to help their cause. If the team coached by Igor Tudor miss out on the continental tournament, Sánchez would certainly seek for pastures new, and PSG would be delighted to add him to their roster as a free agent.

In fact, the player has asked president Pablo Longoria to wait until the end of the season to discuss a contract extension, meaning that failure to qualify to the UCL would see L'OM saying goodbye to the Chilean ace.

Meanwhile, the player's agent has snubbed claims about a possible exit from the Ligue 1 side, although he did not end the rumors surrounding his client despite giving Marseille an option to keep him around.

"Alexis will stay in Europe and Marseille are his top priority. Alexis is happy there, he plays for a great club, but there is still time and we will analyze things calmly. There are a few weeks left with some big matches ahead, we don't have to make a decision right away," agent Fernando Felicevich stated.

PSG are not the only European side interested in Alexis' services, as Arsenal have also been included in the list of landing spots for the Chilean footballer. Either way, the next few weeks will be interesting enough to see where the up and coming South American ace continues his playing career.
