Inter fans are delighted with the result against Milan, which granted them a spot in this year's UEFA Champions League final, and they were joined into the excitement by the last man who lifted the continental title on their behalf: the legendary captain Javier Zanetti.

Speaking in the hours after the game, Zanetti revealed what it means for Inter to make it to the title clash, and how their performances this season have given them a deserved reward with their ticket to the final.

"This is a team that did not make any noise and that has deservedly reached the final match. This group deserved to make the final for the first time in 13 years," Zanetti stated.

Then, the former right back and who played over 850 games for the nerazzurri, came clean on which team he would love to avoid in the UEFA Champions League final.

"I just hope we don't get to face Real Madrid, because this competition seems to be tailored for them to win," Zanetti added.

The former Argentine footballer went on to praise this night's hero, Lautaro Martínez, for all his contributions to the team.

"I'm happy for him, he's having a great career. He is becoming a reference for this team. He is quite happy here, he has found a family here, and they are happy to play for Inter. I hope he can be happy with us for many years," Zanetti concluded.

Inter are third in the Italian Serie A with three games left. A dip in form could see them missing out on next year's continental competition, but a win next weekend would seal the deal for Inzaghi's men, and what better ego boost to have than the one they accomplished earlier today.
