Dario Cvitanich ensured that Apertura champions Boca Juniors ended the season unbeaten with a late winner against All Boys at the Bombonera stadium on Sunday.
Apertura champions Boca Juniors capped off a memorable campaign with a 1-0 win over All Boys at the Bombonera stadium. Boca, Argentina's most popular club, ended the season unbeaten with a staggering 43 points, that came from 12 wins, 7 draws and zero losses.

Boca scored 25 goals and only conceded a mere 6 in nineteen league matches, a stunning achievement considering that Julio Falcioni's side finished in seventh-place of the 2011 Clausura championship, with only 28 points.

What makes Boca's triumph even that more satisfying is the fact that they can look down at arch-rivals River Plate, who lurk in the obscurity of the Argentine second division.

With the Argentine Apertura in the bag, Boca's next objective will be the 2012 Copa Libertadores, a tournament which they have won six times, but not since 2007.

Belgrano de Cordoba climbed into third-place of the Apertura after scraping past Arsenal de Sarandi 1-0 at the Gigante de Alberdi stadium.

The only goal of the match was converted by Franco Vazquez in the 13th minute, when he fired the ball into the back of the net with his left-boot. The goal was not only Cordoba's last of the Apertura, but it was the last for Vazquez when wearing the sky blue shirt, as he will part to Palermo of Italy.

Belgrano, who sent Argentine giants River Plate to the second division, were the revelation team of the Apertura, with eight wins, seven draws and four losses in nineteen matches.

A second half strike from Santiago Naguel was the difference as Argentinos Juniors edged Olimpo de Bahia Blanca 1-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.

Argentinos outplayed their opponents for great part of the match, but failed to make the most of their goal-scoring opportunities. After much pressure, Argentinos' winner finally arrived in the 63rd minute, when a right-footed shot from Naguel went under the body of Olimpo goalkeeper Matias Ibanez.

Olimpo, who lost their seventh match of the season, are the odds on favourites to be relegated to the Argentine second division at the conclusion of the Clausura championship in mid-2012.

Estudiantes de La Plata beat Union de Santa Fe 2-0 at the Cuidad de La Plata stadium, to celebrate the fact that captain Juan Sebastian Veron decided to listen to the club's fans and his team-mates to prolong his retirement for a further six months.

Striker Mauro Boselli put Estudiantes ahead on the stroke of half-time with a header, while defender Christian Cellay sealed his side the three points with a strike in the 77th minute.

Veron, who pulled the strings in the Estudiantes midfield, received a standing ovation from the home fans when he was replaced by Leandro Benitez seven minutes from the final whistle.

Boca Juniors defeated All Boys 1-0 at the Bombonera stadium, a result that allowed them to finish the Apertura championship unbeaten, after having won 12 and having drawn 7 of their nineteen matches. It was Boca's first title triumph in three years.

As was expected Boca dominated All Boys for great part of the match, however, they had to wait until the 78th minute to score the winner courtesy of a goal from Dario Cvitanich. The striker connected to a left-sided Walter Erviti cross with a perfectly placed header that left All Boys goalkeeper Nicolas Cambiasso stranded on his goal-line.

The goal was Cvitanich's fifth of the season, making him Boca's leading scorer. The statistic further outlines the fact that Boca's title triumph was brought down to an overall team effort.

All Boys, who only claimed four victories in the Apertura, practically played the entire second half with ten-men due to the dismissal of Uruguayan midfielder Juan Pablo Rodriguez.
