The Dutch striker will join Los Culés as a direct request by coach Ronald Koeman, who wanted to hire the footballer since he arrive to the club last season.

Ronald Koeman and his team will finally have the striker they desired, as Memphis Depay has joined the Catalan club for the next two seasons.

In a brief video post, the club confirmed that the Dutch international will join them on a free deal this summer after spending the last five seasons at Olympique Lyon. There, Depay scored 76 goals in 178 apps, but he also became one of the best strikers in the league and for the Dutch National Team.

Reports coming in from Spain suggest that negotiations were halted due to Depay's wish to sign for three years. Nevertheless, his agent and the club agreed a two-year deal to see how things go for him after the end of the season, when Ronald Koeman's deal at Camp Nou expires.

Depay will be the 21st Dutch footballer to join Barcelona. That list includes legendary names such as Johan Cruyff, Ronald Koeman, the De Boer brothers, Patrick Kluivert, Edgar Davids, and Marc Overmars, to name a few. Added to those names, Depay will join forces with Oranje international Frenkie de Jong to try and help Barcelona recover the La Liga title after two seasons.

The Catalan side will unveil Memphis Depay as a Blaugrana player once his performance in the UEFA Euro with the Dutch side comes to an end.
