Here's a look at our Dream XI of the standout performers from the recent European Championship.

With the dust now settled on Euro 2020, we can look back at what was an amazing and roller-coaster event. The tournament kicked off with a lot of buzz, treating us to some memorable performances and shocking results – we are looking at you, France vs Switzerland.

Some players disappointed in this edition of the European Championship while others exhibited standout performances. UEFA named their Team of the Tournament, including several of the key performers, but we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to chime in with our own Euro 2020 Dream Team.

First of all, the lineup we opted for is the 4-3-3, the formation used by eventual champions Italy in their path to glory. Some of the names who made UEFA's starting XI also made to our list, but there are a few differences. Without further ado, here's LiveSoccerTV's Team of the Tournament for Europe's recent continental competition.

Here's a look at the official Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament 

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma

Won back-to-back penalty shootouts in the semi-finals and fina,l and was named the Player of the Tournament. Who else but Gianluigi Donnarumma could we have chosen as goalkeeper in the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament? A few might feel hard done by – Jordan Pickford kept the most clean sheets and conceded the fewest goals while Yann Sommer was at the heart of Switzerland's inspirational run – but we ultimately went with the man who led Italy to their first continental title since 1968.

LB: Luke Shaw

Shaw's amazing turnaround continued past the 2020/21 season and carried into Euro 2020, with the English left-back being one of the standout players in the Three Lions run to the final. Three assists, five clean sheets, and a goal in the final were his contributions. Leonardo Spinazzola would have been our pick but his heartbreaking injury in the quarter-finals ended his tournament prematurely. Regardless, the Roma ace has a Euro 2020 medal and probably would not lose a night's sleep over not being named in the Team of the Tournament!

CB: Harry Maguire

England had the best defensive record of the tournament and at the heart of this run was Harry Maguire. The Man Utd center-back fought back from injury to take Southgate's backline to the next level. His Man of the Match display in the 2-0 round of 16 triumph over Germany was proof of this.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci

It was difficult to choose between Chiellini and Bonucci, two men who Mourinho deemed worthy of teaching a masterclass in defending at Harvard University. However, given that the latter played in all seven matches, a feat the 36-year-old Chiellini couldn't accomplish, while winning Man of the Match in the final meant that Leonardo was our choice. Furthermore, Bonucci was Italy's right-sided center-back, meaning he perfectly complements the left-sided Harry Maguire.

RB: Joakim Maehle

After the nearly-tragic incident the Denmark national team suffered in their opening game, they pulled off a remarkable turnaround, going from brink of a group-stage exit to progressing to the semi-finals, where they lost to England 2-1 after a controversial extra-time penalty. Key to this run was Atalanta right-back Joakim Maehle, who provided the remarkable assist for his nation's winning goal against Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.

CM: Jorginho

From Chelsea reject to one of the Ballon d'Or favorites: Jorginho's year was simply sensational. After playing his part in the Blues' Champions League triumph, the Italian midfielder went on to be a pivotal figure in the Azzurri's Euro 2020 success. His inclusion was a no-brainer.

CM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

The Danish midfielder is known for being combative, but in Euro 2020, the Tottenham man racked up the second-highest assists by a single player while creating 11 chances and completing 10 dribbles. His heroics in the middle of the park helped De Rød-Hvide go all the way to the semis.

CM: Pedri

"What Pedri has done in this tournament, at 18, no one has done. Not even Andrés Iniesta did that; it's incredible, unique." This is what Luis Enrique had to say about the Barcelona teenager after his amazing displays at the heart of Spain, poetically combining well with Busquets, the last standing member of La Furia Roja's iconic midfield, almost as if to pass the baton to the next generation. It came as no surprise to see him named the Young Player of the Tournament.

LW: Cristiano Ronaldo

We had to move a few players around in order to incorporate Cristiano into our lineup, but unlike UEFA, we felt obligated to include the Golden Boot winner in our Team of the Tournament. The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient crashed out in the last 16, losing 1-0 to Belgium, but scored five goals and assisted another in the group of death – two goals vs France, two goals vs Hungary, and a goal and assist against Germany. Not bad!

RW: Raheem Sterling

Sterling's remarkable campaign mostly came on the left but the Man City star is accustomed to playing on the right as well. He switched sides in the clash with Germany to make way for Jack Grealish on the left, going as far as scoring after his switch in position. This gives us an excuse to fit in our striker of the tournament without much headache.

CF: Patrik Schick

Was it ever going to be another striker? With three goals in the group stage and two in the knockout round, Schick just missed out on the Golden Boot due to his lack of assists. Throughout the tournament, the Bayer Leverkusen ace failed to score in only one game and was a beast for the Czech Republic from start to finish. Let's not forget that he scored the Goal of the Tournament as well.

Honorable mentions

We've already mentioned Sommer, Pickford, Chiellini, and Spinazzola but they are not the only ones. Kyle Walker and Kalvin Philipps put out commanding displays time and time again but narrowly missed out. Chiesa was also instrumental for Italy in the latter stages but initially struggled to make the Azzurri's lineup. Mikkel Damsgaard and Simon Kjaer were outstanding for Denmark, with the latter taking the captain's role to a new height after that traumatic incident with Eriksen. Benzema and Pogba also showed their brilliance but not at the consistency required.
