Poland's FA have quickly stepped in to pour hot water on any speculation that the flashpoint between the two defenders was racially motivated.

On Wednesday, England faced Poland and the result wasn't what many had expected. Considering that the Three Lions had picked up a perfect 15 points from 15, and Poland historically have struggled against England, many figured that Gareth Southgate's men would be able to make it six wins in six.

Well, football truly is unpredictable, and by the time the dust settled, England had dropped two points for the first time since the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers started. For Poland, it will certainly feel like one point won rather than two lost, but for England, it's safe to say they'll be feeling the opposite.

It was a rather tense atmosphere in Poland, during which a scuffle broke out at half-time. Prior to this, the England players had reported an on-the-pitch incident to the referees. Shortly after, defender Kamil Glik procceded to either grab English star Kyle Walker's face or pinch his neck area, resulting in players arguing, pushing, and shoving just before the break.

Walker wasn't booked, but Glik and Manchester United's Harry Maguire both received cautions.

And now, the Polish FA have moved quickly to deny Glik's actions had anything to do with racism.

"I have spoken to our players and they totally deny that there was any racism," Polish FA rep Jakub Kwiatkowski told Sky Sports.

"It was a normal football incident. Passions were running very high. There was some pushing between Glik and Walker at a free-kick. There was a lot of tension and some pushing but no racism."

Despite the Polish FA's denials, FIFA have nonetheless confirmed they've opened an investigation into the incident to see exactly what led to the flash-point.
