The Portuguese manager dropped a classic celebration after his side left it late to snatch the win in Sunday's clash.

Jose Mourinho dropped another one of his iconic celebrations after witnessing a dramatic late win for his AS Roma side in what was his 1000th game in charge as a manager. The 58-year-old Portuguese coach sprinted down the touchline and dived into the crowd as his players jublitated over Stephan El Shaarawy's stoppage-time winner against Sassuolo at Stadio Olimpico. 

It has been a remarkable start to life in Serie A for the former Tottenham Hotspur boss who has overseen three wins in three games since arriving in Rome this summer. On Sunday, the streak was almost ruined after Filip Duricic had cancelled out Bryan Cristante's opening goal for the hosts and it almost looked as if the points were going to be splitted when the scoreline remained the same in the 90th minute. 

Neverthless, substitute El Shaarawy had other ideas to make the day a memorable one on the special day for his side's new manager. Inside the 92nd minute, the forward sparked euphoria inside the Olimpico by scoring with a brilliant curler, wheeling off towards the crowd in celebration. He was then joined by his teammates and Jose Mourinho will be seen running at top speed to join in the celebrations behind the visitors' goal.

Sunday's victory over Sassuolo consolidated Roma's status as the league leaders. They have now won nine points from three outings and are looking like a side that could compete for titles this season. Meanwhile, the result saw Mourinho take his career tally to 638 wins, having drawn 205 and lost 157 of his 1000 games as a manager. In the end, the former Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur boss revealed that "he feels like he's 14 again" due to the clmax the the game had.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, Mourinho said: "During the week I was a liar, saying it wasn't a special match. But it was a special match.

"It was a match with a special number for me and I always wanted to remember a match like this for my 1000th game. I lied to everyone! "It could have ended 6 to 6, 7 to 7, (Roma goalkeeper) Rui Patricio came up with two miracles, we missed a few goals. Extraordinary game, a tremendous emotion.

"Today I am not 58, but 14, when you start dreaming of a career in football. It was a child's race, I apologized to [Sassuolo head coach Alessio] Dionisi, they played a fantastic game."
