The clash between Leicester City and Napoli could be one of the more interesting ones of this season's Europa League group stage, but the Partenopei may have to make do without a key player.

On Thursday, Napoli will begin their quest to win a European trophy as they travel to take on Leicester. Like the Partenopei, the Foxes will also have high ambitions in European club football's secondary competition, and some have even claimed that both the English and Italian sides are among the favorites to potentially win it all.

Now under the tutelage of Luciano Spalletti, Napoli have been in excellent form, winning all three of their Serie A matches, including a hard-fought 2-1 win over bitter rivals Juventus last weekend. Confidence in the Partenopei camp is quite high right now, but they've been dealt a blow as skipper and long-time Napoli stalwart Lorenzo Insigne looks set to end up missing Thursday's match due to an injury.

During the clash against Juventus, the EURO 2020 winner was unable to complete a corner kick after feeling intense pain in the area around his right knee and was immediately subbed off. And to complicate matters, Dries Mertens, who is currently Napoli's all-time top goalscorer, is also still out injured, thus depriving Spaletti of two reliable goalscorers up front.

Napoli will thus have to make do without two of their key players when they arrive in England for Thursday evening's clash, and will hope to take advantage of a Leicester side who have struggled for consistency in the Premier League; indeed, the Foxes have alternated between a win and a loss from their first four games, including a recent 1-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend.
