The action continues in Africa, with the likes of Morocco, Ghana, Senegal, Guinea, and Gabon taking to the field on the second day.

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which was unfortunately postponed until 2022 due to COVID-19, has finally gotten underway. Sunday, January the 9th, saw the tournament commence, with host nation Cameroon kicking things off with a clash against Burkina Faso, who they beat 2-1 thanks to a brace from Vincent Aboubakar.

Elsewhere, Ethiopia took to the field but the Horn of Africa side did not enjoy the best of starts. The Walyas took on Cape Verde in their opening game and were reduced to 10 men after only 12 minutes after Yared Bayeh Belay's sending off, thus resulting in a 1-0 defeat.

And the action only intensifies on Monday. This time, four fixtures will take place, with the earliest being a 8 a.m. ET kick off. Some of the favorites for the tournament will take to the field on January 10, including Senegal, led by Premier League superstars Sadio Mane and Edouard Mendy, as they aim to inspire their nation to a first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title. Shortly afterwards, Guinea, led by Liverpool ace Naby Keita, will be called into action.

All eyes, however, will be on Monday's penultimate tie as Morocco lock horns with continental powerhouses Ghana. The final game of the day will see an Aubameyang-less Gabon kick start their campaign. Here's everything you need to know about Monday's round of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations fixtures.

What are the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations games to watch on January 10, 2022?

Senegal vs Zimbabwe: Despite being one of the best and most iconic national teams in African history, Senegal have never been able to win the Africa Cup of Nations. In the previous tournament, the Lions of Teranga finished as runners-up, with Mane and Co. losing the final to Algeria.  They are one of the favorites to win Group B, with only Guinea looking to be a real threat. However, COVID-19 has wreaked havoc in the Senegal camp, with six players being ruled out due to the virus while several others are doubts. Zimbabwe will look to take advantage in their bid to kick things off with a win. In fact, the Warriors boast a lovely head-to-head record against the Lions of Tarenga, winning four out of their nine meetings with Monday's opposition. Will Matchday 1 bring their fifth victory? Tune in to find out.

Guinea vs Malawi: Guinea have unfortunately never lifted this trophy, coming close only in 1976 when they finished as runners-up. However, Syli Nationale have grown in stature recently and will thus aim to end their wait for glory, or at the very least, go far in Cameroon. Keita and Co. kick things off against Malawi, a nation that secured qualification on the final day thanks to their 1-0 victory over Uganda. Furthermore, the Flames have only made two previous appearances in AFCON, having last qualified back in 2010, and will thus face a tough task to make it out of the group stage.

Morocco vs Ghana: This is the game to watch as an in-form Morocco side kick things off with a clash against continental powerhouses Ghana. This tie could go a long way in deciding who wins the group, with the Black Stars needing to forget all about their recent 3-0 friendly defeat against defending champions Algeria if they wish to overcome their rivals. Unfortunately for Partey and Co, the head-to-head record reads in favor of the Atlas Lions, with Morocco winning five out of their 11 encounters (L3) while emerging triumphant in two out of their four AFCON encounters with Ghana, losing only once.

Comoros vs Gabon: Comoros will be making their Africa Cup of Nations debut in this tie while Gabon are aiming to make the knockout stage for the first time since 2012. As a result, both nations are aware that they will struggle to get a result against Ghana and Morocco and will thus need a victory in this fixture if they wish to make it out of the group stage. Who will emerge triumphant? Tune in on Monday to find out.
