A number of upsets could see a few household names heading for the exit door as this year's AFCON reaches its business end.

All too soon, the business end of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations is upon us and only the fittest will survive as the knockout phase of the tournament beckons. With just one game left of the group stage to play, teams will be poised to put in a final push to secure a ticket to the next round.

It has been far from a stroll for those involved, especially the tournament's favourites and such as been the case for household names in African football such as Ghana and Senegal. Ahead of Tuesday's clashes, we preview the fixtures involving the two heavyweights as well as two other key match-ups scheduled for the day.

Malawi vs Senegal: Malawi will hope to pull off yet another upset when they come up against Senegal on Tuesday. The Flames have seen their chances of qualifying to the next round being boosted after securing a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in their second game of the group stage. The win follows a 1-0 defeat to Guinea in their opening group game.

On the contrary, Senegal will be poised to potentially finish as group leaders when they take on Mario Marinica's men. The Teranga Lions began their AFCON 2021 campaign with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe before sharing the spoils with Guinea in a subsequent encounter. Either of the teams could advance to the knockout stages with a win in Bafoussam, while a draw might see both teams progressing.

Zimbabwe vs Guinea: Zimbabwe will be eager to end a run of 13 games without a win in all competitions when they come up against Guinea in the other Group B encounter. The Warriors are yet to pick up any points in the ongoing campaign, losing 1-0 to Senegal in their opening group game before falling to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Malawi.

While they hold an outside chance of qualifying to the next stage, Guinea will come into the game with the sole objective to send them packing. The Syli Nationale have four points from the two games they have featured in, beating Malawi 1-0 before drawing 0-0 with Senegal.

Ghana vs Comoros: Expectations were high for the Black Stars of Ghana heading into this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations but it has been a rather underwhelming showing by the four-time continental champions. They approach Tuesday's game on the back of a disappointing showing that has seen them pick up just a point from two outings. While they currently sit in third position, a win over Comoros should be enough to take them to the next round.

Relatively, the opponent they face will be keen on picking up their first set of points after picking up defeats against Morocco and Gabon.

Morocco vs Gabon: The two teams will go head to head inside Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde to decide who the winner of Group C. The former occupy first position after beating both Ghana and Comoros in the two matches they have played so far. On the other hand, Gabon sits in second with four points following a win over Comoros and their draw with Ghana.
