The Blaugrana side could still be involved in some major moves before the winter transfer window shuts down.

The end of the ongoing transfer window is fast approaching, and Barcelona is still trying to tweak their squad here and there to have better options of winning any of the titles yet available to them.

With that in mind, it is not a surprise to see them plotting new deals to hire more talent at Xavi Hernández's disposal, while also getting rid of those players deemed surplus to the coach and the team's requirements.

This time, information from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has revealed that Los Culés would be interested in hiring former PSG defender and Belgian international Thomas Meunier. According to Romero, the club would include American footballer Sergiño Dest in exchange for his colleague.

Meunier has been one of Dortmund's finest players since his arrival to Signal Iduna Park, handing out seven assists and scoring three goals for the Black and Yellow. Moreover, his defensive contribution has been key to keep Borussia Dortmund in the title race.

On the other hand, Dest has not been as consistent as he was during his time at Ajax, which has resulted in coach Xavi Hernández's decision to bench him. Rumors close to the Blaugrana camp have suggested that Hernández is keen on letting Dest go, which would facilitate this swap deal.

According to the Spanish journalist, dealings between both clubs are already underway, with the only thing left to settle would be the kind of deal to be signed. The options are a loan with an obligation to buy, or a simple swap deal.

This would not be the first time in which Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona negotiate for a player. The Blaugrana side famously paid Dortmund a handsome amount of money for Ousmané Dembelé, and more recently, both teams have been involved in transfer talk related to Erling Haaland's move to Camp Nou, although that move may be put on hold until next summer, when Barcelona's finances will reportedly improve.
