The French international failed to secure a move away from the club during the winter transfer window, and this has apparently caused anger in some quarters at Barcelona.

The winter transfer window officially slammed shut yesterday, but there are still plenty of unresolved issues for many clubs all over Europe.

One team in this category is Barcelona. The Blaugrana were hoping to ship out Ousmane Dembele during the winter transfer market, as they've grown frustrated with his refusal to sign a new deal, plus his ongoing issue both on and off the pitch.

However, the transfer window came and went, and the 24-year-old French international still remains a Barcelona player. Sources have indicated that several big clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United were closely monitoring his situation, but nothing came to fruition. In addition, talks regarding a new deal have hit the skids and haven't gone anywhere, with both the player and the club at a seeming impasse.

Considering Barcelona paid a whopping €105 million to acquire him from Dortmund in 2017, the Blaugrana very likely realized that they'd have to sell him at a loss, but were willing to take the financial hit to get a clearly disgruntled player off their books.

Yet, nothing happened, and as of February 1st, Dembele still remains a Barcelona player. And given how things have proceeded, some reports claim that Barcelona's execs are suspicious that the player and his entourage have sneakily agreed a deal with another club to depart on a free this summer.

As a result, Barcelona could opt to merely terminate his contract, leaving him without a club to play for until he secures his next move elsewhere.

While some may think that to be a drastic action, it's clear that the Blaugrana aren't impressed with Dembele's conduct as of late, and it will be interesting to see what steps they take next to deal with a player who appears to be keen on plying his trade elsewhere.
