The Argentine's future at the Parc des Princes is under heavy doubt thanks to their recent Coupe de France exit.

It's no secret that Man United are on the hunt for a new manager, with Mauricio Pochettino being target no.1 for the Premier League giants, according to several news outlets. However, recent reports suggest the Argentine could be available much earlier than initially expected.

In fact, come March, the Red Devils might know whether the PSG boss will remain in charge of the Ligue 1 giants or whether he will be out of work. This is according to Les Parisien, with the French publication claiming that the former Tottenham tactician's future in Paris is under heavy doubt after their recent Coupe de France embarrassment.

Messi and Co. locked horns with Nice in the French Cup round of 16 on Monday but suffered a surprise defeat, losing on penalty shootout and costing the mega-rich club the opportunity of winning the treble. This has left Pochettino with one game to save his Parc des Princes career.

The news outlet write that everything rests on the shoulders of their UEFA Champions League showdown with Real Madrid. PSG are set to lock horns with Los Blancos in the round of 16, handing the 49-year-old two scenarios. If Messi and Co. triumph and progress to the quarterfinals, then the head coach will live to die another day. However, failure to get past Ancelotti's side will likely be the final nail in the coffin.

The second leg will take place on March 9, hence why Man United could be made aware of Pochettino's availability by early to mid-March. The Argentine has 18 months left on his contract, but with Zinedine Zidane being heavily linked with the Parc des Princes job, it isn't surprising to see these rumors.

Mauricio isn't the only candidate for the Old Trafford position. Ajax's Erik Ten Hag, Spain's Luis Enrique, and Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui has also been linked. Then there is Ralf Rangnick, with the interim boss reportedly impressing the Red Devils higher-ups and thus emerging as a nominee for the permanent job.
