The PSG boss and Ajax coach appear to be the two favorites for the Old Trafford job, but only one is wanted by the Red Devils dressing room.

All eyes remain on the Manchester United managerial job. Despite reportedly impressing the Old Trafford higher-ups, Ralf Rangnick's role remains a temporary one, with the Premier League giants set to move on from the German tactician once the current campaign ends.

As a result, all signs point to a new manager arriving at the Theatre of Dreams this summer. Two names in particular look to be the favorites and they are PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

Both the Argentine and the Dutchman enjoy their fair share of admirers in the Manchester United board. However, according to the Daily Mail, only one is heavily backed by the Red Devils dressing room and that man is none other than Pochettino.

It's not hard to see why, as the Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail put it, "the majority of the United squad would prefer Pochettino". The 49-year-old is no stranger to the Premier League, having enjoyed tremendous stints at Southampton and then Tottenham.

While the former Espanyol man did not win silverware during his time in north London, Pochettino's style of football and ability to perform against their bigger rivals, which culminated in their UEFA Champions League final appearance in 2019, ultimately earned him admirers. Furthermore, the Argentine did all of this while working with a relatively tight budget.

Mauricio is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford. Despite being at PSG, one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world, he is not happy in Paris and is keen on escaping the toxic atmosphere that comes with managing the likes of Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, and all the other star-studded egos at the Parc des Priinces.

However, there is one issue. The report by the British news outlet claims that Rangnick, who will be promoted to an advisory role once his interim job comes to an end, favors Ten Hag. One crucial aspect, which remains unclear as of now, is how influential the German will be in Man United's managerial search once he becomes a consultant. Nonetheless, with the 20-time English champions being keen on wrapping this up earlier rather than later, fans will find out the answer to this question soon.
