This weekend's batch of matches produced some interesting results, and resulted in a shake-up in the league standings.

Plenty of interesting matches took place this round, including crucial ones for Milan, Napoli, Inter, and Juventus. As expected, the results of these games caused some changes in the league standings, and while it's looking like it will be a three horse race for the Scudetto, one would be unwise to totally discount another Italian giant.

Here's what happened in Serie A this past weekend.

Serie A key headlines, stats, and other facts

No winners in Napoli-Inter clash: Given that Napoli and Inter were sitting in second and first respectively heading into this weekend's clash, many fans and calcio neutrals alike rightfully were looking forward to the showdown at the Stadio Maradona. Ultimately, it finished as a one-all draw, meaning that there were no winners, but certainly means that things are set to get a lot more interesting over the next few months. Both teams are very much in the Scudetto hunt, but the draw resulted in a fellow Scudetto contender now moving to top spot in the table.

Milan seize advantage: Milan certainly were watching the Napoli-Inter clash with great interest, and so when the Rossoneri took to the pitch against Sampdoria on Sunday, they knew exactly what they needed to do at the Stadio San Siro. Rafael Leao's first half goal proved to be the deciding factor, and with that, Stefano Pioli's men are back on top of the table for the first time since matchday 16. In addition, Mike Maignan, who assisted Leao's goal, is the first Milan goalkeeper to achieve this in Serie A since Brazilian shot-stopper Dida did so against Empoli back in 2006.

More frustration for Roma: After publicly lashing out against his own players, many eyes were on Jose Mourinho and Roma when they traveled to face Sassuolo on Sunday. Although Tammy Abraham reached another personal milestone with his 11th Serie A goal - making him the third most prolific English player in a season - the Giallorossi ended up having to settle for a disappointing draw. This comes on the heels of their poor showing during their Coppa Italia loss to Inter, and follows a frustrating stalemate against relegation-threatened Genoa, so it's safe to say that the pressure will be on them to get things right against Hellas Verona this weekend.

Never count Juventus out: After an awful start, Juventus have now started to come roaring back to life. The Bianconeri are now unbeaten in their last 11 Serie A games, but that run came under threat this Sunday as Atalanta managed to snatch a 1-0 lead. However, defender Danilo scored his first goal in over a year, courtesy of an assist from Paulo Dybala, to earn Massimiliano Allegri's a deserved point. Ironically, it was Atalanta who were the last team to beat Juventus in the league - back in November - and La Dea were hoping to become the first side in over a decade to beat La Vecchia Signora in three consecutive Serie A meetings.

Top Serie A matches: February 18 - February 21, 2022

Juventus vs Torino: The Derby della Mole is always one not to miss, despite Juventus and Torino being nowhere near one another in the table. The Bianconeri will come into this game on an 11 match unbeaten streak in the league, and with some new signings, are now aiming to put some serious pressure on the teams above them in the table. While they're not regarded by most as serious Scudetto contenders, there is still plenty of time to go between now and the end of the season, and if things continue to go Juve's way, the Bianconeri could cause some concerns for Milan, Napoli, and Inter. But first, they'll look to pick up a vital win over struggling Torino, who are currently on a two game losing streak.

Roma vs Hellas Verona: After another disappointment last time out, Roma will again need to go back to the drawing board as they take on a Hellas Verona side who've really exceeded expectations so far this season. Given the indifferent form for the Lupi as of late, the Gialloblu will certainly be fancying their chances at a scalp when they travel to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend, especially as they've picked up three wins from their last five games.

Salernitana vs Milan: Currently on top of the table, Milan have a good opportunity to potentially extend their lead when they travel to face struggling Salernitana. Of course, the Diavolo won't take this match lightly as they were notably beaten by minnows Spezia not too long ago, but the general consensus is that Pioli's side shouldn't have too much trouble in getting the job done.

Inter vs Sassuolo: It's set to be a very busy week for Inter, who will have to face Liverpool in a tough Champions League round of 16 tie before welcoming a stubborn Sassuolo side to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The Neroverdi, as shown last weekend against Roma, and time and time again, have consistently been a disruptor when it comes to taking on Italy's big sides, and Inter, well aware of their own frustrations against them, will need to be on their guard.

Cagliari vs Napoli: Like Milan, Napoli will also be taking on a relegation-threatened side to wrap up this round. After drawing Inter, the Partenopei currently find themselves in third spot, and with the Rossoneri the certain favorites to pick up three points against Salernitana, the onus will be on Napoli to make sure they can do likewise when they face Cagliari on Monday.
