The Brazilian midfielder was inconsolable on the Liverpool bench after being forced to sit out Sunday's clash with Chelsea.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara was forced to miss Sunday evening's Carabao Cup final with Chelsea after picking up an injury while warming up. The ex-Bayern Munich star who was visibly distraught ahead of kick-off and was seen in the company of goalkeeper Allisson Becker being consoled after making a last-minute withdrawal.

Thiago has had an unfair share of injury troubles since completing a switch to Anfield from Bayern Munich. Having returned from one such spell on the treatment table, the Spanish midfielder has found some form and has been an integral member of the Liverpool team in recent times.

After impressing in the 6-0 Premier League win over Leeds United, Thiago was named in the starting lineup to feature in a midfield trio alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. However, the 30-year-old was forced to be substituted just moments away from kick-off. Naby Keita replaced the midfielder in the lineup with Liverpool subsequently confirming the injury to the Spaniard.
