The Spaniard missed a crucial spot-kick to hand the Reds the league cup following an extraordinary shoot-out.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga decided Sunday night's Carabao Cup final with his missed penalty kick handing Liverpool their ninth title in the competition. The 27-year-old was the only one to not find the back of the net, handing his side a massive heartbreak and ending their quest to secure the league cup.

Following the 0-0 draw, Kepa was introduced into the fray replace Edouard Mendy in the final minutes of extra-time with the hope of emerging as the shoot-out's hero once more. Optimism was hight with Spaniard having earned the reputation as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League in recent times.

However, things did not go the way of the former Athletic Club goalkeeper as it normally would, and such was the case for Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher. The pair were unable to stop any of the 20 attempts they collectively faced albeit guessing the right way in multiple instances.

With the 10 players from both sides expertly dispatching their kicks, the onus fell on the goalkeepers to settle the score. Liverpool's Kelleher subsequently stepped up to and converted the 21st attempt before his opposite number blasted his effort over the bar to gift Jurgen Klopp's side the win.
