The league leaders outclassed their local rivals to maintain their status as league leaders.

Pep Guardiola, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez landed remarkable milestones as Man City swept aside Manchester United in Sunday's evening's derby. The Citizens handed the local rivals a humble pie by staging a rout to run away with a 4-1 win at the Etihad.

In the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw, the visitors barely did enough to deal with the threat of City, conceeding the game's opening goal inside the first four minutes. Kevin De Bruyne was the plaer to put the league leaders in front and completed the first half with a brace after Jadon Sancho had canceled out his opener.

With the goals, the Belgian international became only the fourth player in the Premier League's history to reach the 50 goals landmark. Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard were the first three players to land the feat.

In the second half of Sunday's Manchester derby, Riyad Mahrez ensured that his side retain the six points lead they had over Liverpool. The Algerian international hit two brilliant goals to put the game out of reach for United, becoming the first Premier League player after Mohamed Salah to score 20 goals across all competitions this season.

While the 4-1 defeat condemned Manchester United to only their second league defeat under Ralf Rangnick, Man City registered their 50th league game under Pep Guardiola in which they have scored four or more goals. The Citizens are the fastest team to reach the milestone under a single manager.
