The Polish ace was in top form as his side humiliated Salzburg in a vintage Bayern showing.

From the outset, it was very clear that Salzburg were no match for Bayern Munich.

Although the first leg finished as a surprise one-all draw, with Kingsley Coman sparing Bayern's blushes, the overall feeling was that die Roten really hadn't gotten started just yet and that the Austrian side would be in for a very long and miserable evening in the return leg.

Well, that's exactly what happened, as Bayern, in typical ruthless form, didn't just beat, but absolutely humiliated their opponents. Seven goals were scored by Julian Naglesman's men as they pummeled their opponents to win the second leg 7-1 and the series 8-2 on aggregate.

And Robert Lewandowski was again in excellent form, netting a hat-trick in the first half. Completed by the 23rd minute, the 33 year old now joins none other than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only players to have scored at least ten goals in at least three Champions League campaigns.

In addition, the Polish star has now scored five UCL hat-tricks, again joining the aforementioned Ronaldo and Messi in that very elite category.

Finally, Lewandowski's hat-trick is the fastest ever scored at this juncture, as he completed his treble in just 23 minutes.

And to cap it off, it now takes him to 40 goals across all comps this season - making him the first player featuring in any of Europe's "Big Five" leagues to do so.

Safe to say, most teams won't be looking forward to playing Bayern in the quarter-finals as the Bavarian titans look to get their hands on the coveted prize.
