The latest round of games saw some surprise results across Germany's top flight.

Last weekend had another installment of Bundesliga fixtures, and there were actually a couple of surprise results that just may have opened a narrow door for a team who've been hoping to finally end Bayern's undisputed reign as champions of Germany.

Here's a quick summary of what went down this weekend across Germany's top flight.

Bundesliga rankings as of March 14

Here's the top five teams in the Bundesliga as of March 14th:

Who are the top three goalscorers in the Bundesliga?

Here's how the race for the Torjägerkanone is shaping up, with Robert Lewandowski clearly set to win it once again this season:

Bundesliga headlines, stats, and other facts

Another game, another record for Lewandowski: Although the 33-year-old Polish star wasn't able to secure a win for Bayern as they dropped two points in a one-all draw with Hoffenheim, he nonetheless got himself on the scoresheet for his 29th goal this season. It's pretty safe to say that he'll successfully defend his top scorer prize for another season.

Also, in scoring against Hoffenheim, Lewandowski has now netted 17 times on the road, matching a record set by Jupp Heynckes during the 1973/74 season and then equaled by Timo Werner during the 2019/20 campaign. With plenty of games to go, it's a sure bet that Lewandowski will break this record before the current term comes to a close.

Opportunity for Dortmund? With Bayern slipping up for the second straight match, Dortmund do have a chance to narrow the gap if they can beat Mainz on Wednesday. If die Schwarzgelben could get the job done, they will close the gap on Bayern to four points, which could make things a lot more interesting as we head into the final third of the season.

Battle for Champions League football is really heating up: With two spots guaranteed to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, there are still two places up for grabs. And at the moment, there are four teams - Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Freiburg, and Hoffenheim - all in great positions to secure Champions League football for themselves next season. And even Cologne will hope to have a shot following their 1-0 win over Leverkusen last time out.

Top Bundesliga matches: March 18 - March 20, 2022

Bayern vs Union Berlin: Die Roten will be obviously looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points from their last two games. Meanwhile, Union Berlin have seen their form take a major dip after an impressive start to the season. Will they be able to turn their fortunes around, or will they become the latest team to suffer a loss at the hands of Bayern?

RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt: With four wins from their last five games, Leipzig are currently one of the most in-form teams in the Bundesliga at the moment. However, they'll be facing an Eintracht Frankfurt side who have bounced back from three straight losses with back to back wins.

Wolfsburg vs Leverkusen: After a surprise loss, all eyes will be on how Leverkusen respond when they face Wolfsburg this weekend, especially with other teams lurking just behind looking to knock them out of third spot.

Cologne vs Borussia Dortmund: Depending on how things go, Dortmund could come into this match four points behind Bayern. However, Cologne have proven to be a tricky opponent, notably from their narrow 1-0 win over Leverkusen last time out.
