Despite being in and out of the team due to injuries, Sweden have nonetheless called up the experienced striker as they look to secure their spot at the World Cup.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic might be 40 years old, but he's clearly not set on retiring just yet.

The Swedish international, who has played for some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Inter, Juventus, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United, and AC Milan, where he's now in his second spell as a Rossoneri player, has struggled for form and fitness this season due to a series of reoccuring injuries. Despite that, he's the joint-top goalscorer for Milan in Serie A with eight goals, and is only bettered by Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud, who've scored 11 times across all comps.

Overall, the Malmo-born attacker has scored 36 times in 68 appearances for Milan since returning in 2019, and it's that form, plus his experience, that has led Sweden to decide to hand him a call-up.

Ibrahimovic has been out for much of the year due to an Achilles tendon issue, but recently made his return to action last weekend as Milan secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Empoli.

The Blågult will be facing the Czech Republic later this month as they look to book a ticket at the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup, with the winner ultimately facing Poland for a coveted berth at the tournament that's set to take place in Qatar near the end of the year.
