The Frenchman, who is currently away on international duty, held a candid conversation with Le Figaro in which he talked about his professional career and mental health.

Paul Pogba's contractual situation at Manchester United has been a huge talking points for years, with the Frenchman's current deal at Old Trafford set to expire this summer with little to no suggestions he will extend.

As a result, rumors have been circulating for quite some time regarding his future. While the Red Devils prefer to keep the 2018 World Cup winner, that appears less likely by the day, with the midfielder himself publicly flirting with the idea of joining PSG, or even Real Madrid, this summer.

The 29-year-old, who is currently with Les Bleus on international duty, spoke to Le Figaro in an extremely candid interview in which he opened up about his personal life and mental health, as well as his struggles in his professional career.

The former Juventus ace, having dominated Serie A during his time in Turin, will now undergo a fifth straight year without silverware at Old Trafford. While many see the Frenchman as part of that trophyless problem, Pogba could not help but admit his frustration with the lack of success and his desire to win accolades, be it in Manchester or elsewhere.

"You have to be honest, the last five seasons have not satisfied me – really not at all," Pogba said. "This year it is dead, we won't win anything. Whether it is with Manchester United or at another club, I want to win trophies."

Paul did not stop there. One of the biggest criticisms he has faced is his inability to regularly replicate his national form at the Theatre of Dreams. The Frenchman offered his opinion on this matter, accusing his employers of constant chopping and changing at his detriment.

"It's simple with France, I play and I play in my position – I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players," he added.

"It's normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it's hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your partners.

"I get along very well with [France boss Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know, but at Manchester United do I really have a role? I ask the question but I don't have an answer."

Three managers have taken charge at Manchester United during Pogba's second spell with the club – four if you include Michael Carrick's short reign as caretaker. As a result, that is a criticism that boasts merit. However, Red Devils fans might not be as appreciative about his remarks about playing alongside countryman Kylian Mbappe at club level.

When asked if he'd like to share a dressing room with the world-class attacker outside of the national team, Pogba's response was: "Why not? It's always good to play with team-mates in the France team and in the club."

Mbappe is currently at PSG but is tipped to join Real Madrid this summer. With Pogba having been heavily linked with both the Ligue 1 and La Liga giants, it's hard to deduce where he sees himself teaming up with Kylian.

The interview wasn't all about transfers and his future as the player touched on a few personal matters, one of which was the recent burglary of his home during their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid. The midfielder revealed that his World Cup medal was one of the items stolen from his house but reiterated his joy that his family emerged from this ordeal unharmed. Additionally, the former Bianconeri sensation admitted to experiencing depression throughout his career, highlighting his turbulent spell under Mourinho as the moment it all began.
