Brozovic signs extension until 2026

Inter successfully secure key player on long-term contract extension

March 23, 2022 By Michelle Bonsu
After a long period of uncertainty, Inter fans can rest easy that one of the team's key players doesn't look set to be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

After a long period of speculation, it appears that Marcelo Brozovic won't be leaving Inter anytime soon. The 29-year-old, who was a key part of Croatia's squad as the Vatreni made a surprise and impressive run all the way to the 2018 World Cup final, was set to see his contract expire on June 30th.

Thanks to his generally solid showings in the middle of the park, Brozovic has grown into a fan favorite since arriving at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in 2014 from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb, and has made over 270 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all comps.

However, his contract was set to expire on June 30th, meaning that time was running out for both the player and club to come up with a solution.

Reports had claimed that several big European clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Tottenham were all closely tracking the player's situation, but now, Brozovic looks set to remain with the Nerazzurri for the foreseeable future, after signing a new deal that runs through 2026.

Accordng to additional reports, he will be on a wage packet that sees him earn about $7.15 million (€6.5 million) per season in addition to other performance-related bonuses.
