The Frenchman looked destined to join Los Blancos, but according to one journalist, the World Cup winner will sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid appeared to be a matter of when, not if, given his expiring PSG contract and his well-known dream of playing at Santiago Bernabeu. However, Los Blancos look to have been handed a curve ball as the attacker has reportedly made a U-turn on his decision to join the Spanish giants.

The first warning signs came after PSG’s recent 5-1 win over Lorient, with the 2018 World Cup winner having a hand in all five goals, scoring two while setting up the other three. After the full-time whistle, the former Monaco sensation spoke to Amazon Prime Video and opened up about his future, admitting that contrary to popular belief, he has not yet made a decision.

Additionally, the goalscoring machine went a step further and stated that the possibility of him renewing his Parc des Princes contract remains.

"There are new elements, a fair amount of factors to take into account. Like I've said, it's not an easy decision," the Frenchman said.

"I'm trying to make the best one along with those close to me. I'm taking my time to make the best possible decision. If I had made my decision, I would've announced it.

"Is it possible to stay at PSG? Yes, of course."

Things have now taken a turn for the worse for Real Madrid as one reporter claims the 23-year-old has decided to extend his PSG deal, which is set to expire this summer. That man is Daniele Riolo, the journalist who broke Lionel Messi’s move to the French capital, telling RMC Sport that the attacker will sign a new contracy, which will be announced in May.

"[PSG president Nasser] Al-Khelaifi's only interest is knowing what Kylian [Mbappe] will do," Riolo said, as per Marca.

"No one will believe me, but [his new contract] will be announced in May and he will stay."

However, the aforementioned Spanish publication remain adamant that Real Madrid are confident of landing their man. It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga ends and whether the French superstar will end up at the Bernabeu in time for next season.

As for now, Ancelotti’s men are focused on one thing and one thing only: their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal. The Primera Division leaders are set to face Chelsea this Wednesday, with Benzema and Co. making the trip to Stamford Bridge for the first leg in what should be an interesting encounter.
