The Italian coach has weighed in on the purported arrival of the Chelsea defender this summer.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reacted to rumors of Antonio Rudiger's purported move to the Bernabeu this summer following Tuesday night's defeat to Man City in the UEFA Champions League. The 62-year-old Italian coach joked about his side's apparent interest in the German defender when asked about his imminent arrival ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rudiger has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu in the past few days after it became apparent that he was not going to renew his contract with Chelsea. On Sunday, the former AS Roma center-back missed the Blues' 1-0 win over West Ham through a groin injury but his compatriot and current manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that he is expected to leave the club as a free agent when the season ends. Multiple reports from Spain have revealed that he is on the verge of agreeing to a four-year deal with Los Blancos following a successful meeting between the club and his representatives.

After Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first-leg clash in which Manchester City defeat Real Madrid 4-3 at Eithad, Ancelotti was asked about the prospect of Rudiger joining his side. The former Everton and AC Milan head coach cheekily rebuffed the the claim although his subsequent facial expression proved to be a giveaway.

Speaking to a reporter, he said: "Toni Rüdiger? Toni who?

Who's this?! [laughs]. He's STILL a Chelsea player… I can't say anything about this."

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have already reached verbal agreement with Antonio Rüdiger. However, the contract have not signed yet although it is expected to be a formality.
