Several milestones set in action-packed MLS round nine weekend

This weekend's installment of MLS matches certainly did not disappoint, as it had goals, red cards, and plenty of more records set.

Last weekend brought the latest installment of MLS matches, and it certainly did not disappoint.

From goals to red cards, there was plenty of action to keep fans buzzing throughout, whether it be Los Angeles FC ensuring they remain on top of the pack to new side Austin continuing their brilliant start to their sophomore campaign.

Here's some of the key talking points from the latest round in Major League Soccer.

There's nowhere like home for Los Angeles FC

It's been a brilliant start to the campaign for LA FC, who not only are on top of the Western Conference, but the entire MLS table in general. Cherundolo's men eased to a 2-0 win over Minnesota United, which also helped them set a record in the process:

Ill-discipline throughout

This past round was also interesting as it saw a significant uptick in the number of red cards handed out, which is the second-most in league history:

Future looks bright for the USMNT

It was also a good day at the office for NYC FC as they picked up a third win on the bounce at the expense of struggling side San Jose Earthquakes. The 3-0 win also set an interesting milestone, as for the first time in six years, two players of this nationality got onto the score-sheet:

Impressive fortress built by Nashville

They might be one of the youngest teams in MLS, but Nashville clearly are making themselves at home in the top flight as shown here:
