It was a busy week in terms of football matches that could be watched within the United States' borders, and it was certainly worth-watching for those who devoted time to witness games.
The most anticipated matches of the weekend were, of course, the ones that had to do with the end of the Premier League, where Manchester City and Liverpool still had chances to be crowned as champions. Eventually, the Citizens would claim the crown with a come-from-behind win against Aston Villa, which ultimately resulted in that game being the most watched of the week in the United States.
Surprisingly, the second spot in this list did not go to Liverpool's match. The runner-up in the race for the ratings was the first leg of the Liga MX semi-final between América and Pachuca, where a late penalty for Los Tuzos paved the way for them to reach the final. The return leg between these clubs was also one of the most-watched games of the week, with over 1.2M average users watching this tie.

All eyes will be on the UEFA Champions League final, with Liverpool and Real Madrid set to lock horns in the highly-anticipated showdown in Paris. This is a rematch of the 2018 final as Salah and Co. aim to get revenge over Los Blancos. However, as the Merengues have shown, they should not be taken lightly, having pulled off brilliant comeback victories over PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City to reach the final. 2022 NWSL season
The tournament will carry on this week after the Portland Thorns lost their first match of the season, leaving the top spot of the competition to the San Diego Wave. TRANSFER TALK: Roma star linked with surprise move to Inter
Roma might have just celebrated a historic win, but one of their players may not be around that much longer to bask in the glory.
The Giallorossi finally won their first major European title thanks to a 1-0 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord in the inaugural Europa Conference League. In doing so, current Roma boss Jose Mourinho becomes the first manager to win each of Europe's big trophies - the Champions League (with Inter in 2010), the Europa League (with Manchester United in 2017), and now the Europa Conference League (with Roma in 2022).
However, one of their players may be on the move. According to Italian reports, Armenian star Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be making a switch to Inter on a free transfer. The 33-year-old has been with Roma since 2019, where he's made over 100 appearances across all comps and scored 29 goals, but unfortunately was forced off early during Roma's Europa Conference League final due to a thigh injury.
Italian media, namely Il Corriere dello Sport, claims that he'll be paid $3.7 million (€3.5 million) per season for two years. It will not be the first time that the player has made a move between two rival clubs; he was at Manchester United for a season and a half before moving on to Arsenal in the middle of the 2017/18 campaign.
Luis Diaz's father reveals how Liverpool superstar nearly died when he was a child
Since joining Liverpool in January, Luis Diaz has quickly become an Anfield sensation. The Colombian attacker immediately worked his way into Jurgen Klopp's lineup, which is impressive given that Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino were dropped as a result, and is now seen as the future of the Reds' front three.
Just under four months after his arrival from Porto, the 25-year-old has already gotten his hands on two trophies, winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, and on Saturday he will make his debut on the biggest stage club football has to offer: the UEFA Champions League final.
However, according to the player's father, the breathtaking winger came close to losing his life and thus missing out on his dream career. Luis Manuel, the Colombian ace's parent, gave an interview to Noticias RCN in which he discussed his son's hardship, revealing that the attacker nearly passed away when he was a child.
It's no secret that Luis, nicknamed Fideo (noodle) in Spanish, was a skinny boy. However, this wasn't always the case, with his father stating that the player was "very chubby" at the age of two and three.
Unfortunately, illness befell him and he began losing a worrisome amount of weight, nearly losing his life as a result.
"When he was little, two or three-years-old, he was chubby, he was very chubby," Diaz's father told Noticias RCN (as per The Sun).
"He had a disease process, it gave him discomfort and he lost weight in that process.
"We used to say that he was going to die, because as the old men used to say when they kept an eye on him: 'the bald guy got sick, he got sick'."
The father later added: "A man from up here [his hometown of Barrancas] was the one who helped me with it and recovered it for me."
The Liverpool ace was later described as "clumsy, malnourished" by a coach for Colombia's indigenous communities' youth team which Dias trialed for. When on loan at Barranquilla, the winger was put on a diet to help him gain 10kg, but despite his weight issues, the attacker continued to impress before eventually getting his move to Europe in 2019.
And this weekend, the former Primeira Liga talisman will get the chance to lift the most prestigious trophy in club football when the Merseyside giants lock horns with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. Victory over Los Blancos would mark a brilliant rise in his career, going from a "malnourished" kid in Colombia to a champion of Europe.
End of the road? Zlatan faces retirement in the eye after knee surgery
Despite his desire to carry on playing, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could very well say goodbye to his long and prosperous football career due to a knee injury.
The player was unable to perform for Milan in 15 of the 38 games of the recently concluded season due to several physical problems, and one of those could have him on the verge of retirement due to the amount of time he would be forced to spend recovering.
Milan revealed that Zlatan had underwent surgery to his left knee. Although the surgery was deemed as "successful", the player is set to spend the next seven to eight months recovering from the intervention, which put his career in serious jeopardy.
This is not the first injury of the sort for Ibrahimovic. The first one of these came during his stint at Manchester United, but contrary to what most fans thought, he recovered from the surgery and returned to the pitch, even extending his career to play in the MLS and finally returning to Italy, where he became a central figure for the recently crowned AC Milan in the Italian top-flight.
All we have to do now is wait and see how things develop for the footballer in the next few months, although his presence with the Rossoneri for the 2022-23 season seems to be secure at the moment.
Mourinho sets TWO new records as Roma beat Feyenoord to lift historic Europa Conference League trophy
Jose Mourinho has become the first-ever manager to win European trophies with four different clubs after guiding AS Roma to Europa Conference League final win against Feyenoord. The Portuguese manager's side defeated the Eredivise club by a lone goal to nil, ending his first full season at the club with a silverware to his name.
It has been 14 years since Roma last touched a trophy and, in front of over 20,000 fans inside Arena Kombëtare in Albania, the Serie A club did just enough to write their names in the history books. It was far from a stroll in the park for the Italian capital club as Feyenoord mounted a proper contest to justify their final qualification berth. However, Nicolo Zaniolo's 32nd minute strike proved to be the difference maker with no goal coming after the deadlock was broken.
In retrospect the 22-year-old attacker landed a personal milestone of his own, becoming the youngest-ever Italian to score in a final of a major European competition since Alessandro Del Piero (22 years, 200 days). The latter landed the feat by netting against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final in May 1997.
For Jose Mourinho, the night's result meant that he has now won European trophies with four different club. The Portuguese coach had already won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan in 2004 and 2010, as well as the Europa League with Manchester United in 2017. He is also the first manager in history to win the Champions League, the Europa League and the Europa Conference League.
It is also worth noting that Mourinho is the second manager to win five major European titles after Giovanni Trapattoni, with the Portuguese now winning the UEFA Europa Conference League, the UEFA Champions League twice and also the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice.
In the grand scheme of things, AS Roma have now won their first UEFA title in their history and their first international competition since the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960/61 campaign. They are also the first Italian side to win a major European competition since Inter in 2010, also under José Mourinho.

PSG suspend coach due to alleged 'misconduct'
On Tuesday, PSG Women announced that the team's head coach, Didier Olle-Nicolle, is currently being suspended. The 60-year-old former defender was first appointed to his post last July, and so far has overseen a team that are currently second in the top flight, five points behind Lyon.
However, now, following some findings, he has been suspended from his post while the club conducts an internal investigation into what the club has described as "inappropriate behavior". No specifics have been released as to what this behavior entails, but the club did mention the following:
"Paris Saint-Germain [has been] informed of inappropriate actions and comments to which members of its women's team were allegedly exposed."
"[As such, given that] PSG takes the situation very seriously and intends to shed full light on the facts and comments reported. In this context and in order to preserve the interests of all parties involved, the coach of the women's team has been placed on leave today, by mutual agreement."
Report: Paris Saint-Germain put Neymar up for sale
Paris Saint-Germain are considering parting ways with Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr, a new report from France has revealed. The Ligue 1 club are supposedly open to accepting suitable offers in order to sanction the sale of the 29-year-old forward ahead of the summer transfer window.
In the past week, PSG have dominated the news after finally winning the battle with Real Madrid for the signature of Kylian Mbappe. The latter penned a new three-year contract extension with improved conditions to stay at the club, having almost left to join Los Blancos as a free agent this summer. Now it seems the Frenchman may be on the verge of losing one of his wingmen in attack with Neymar Jr purportedly for sale.
According to French publication L'Equipe, PSG will not retain the service of Neymar should they get an acceptable offer. According to multiple reports from France, the decision taken by the club is said to have been motivated by the imminent arrival of Ousmanne Dembele from Barcelona. Chelsea have been touted as a potential destination for the Brazilian superstar who has registered 100 goals in 144 appearances for Les Parisians since joining the club in 2017.
Mourinho drops hint about his future following UEFA Europa Conference League success
Speaking to Sky Sports right after Roma's 1-0 victory, the Special One shared a tearful explanation of what this title will bring to Roma and to his career.
"There are so many thoughts on my mind. These people (the team's supporters) are something else and I understood that when I got here eleven months ago. We had a chance to make history and we took it. I knew we could win this competition after we lost some points in Serie A because of it, and I'm glad we accomplished this because our goal was to go back to the UEFA Europa League," Mourinho said.
With this new success, interest in Mourinho's services will certainly escalate. But will the coach leave Roma or try to keep up the good work with the Serie A side? His reply certainly leaves no doubts.
"I am staying, there is no doubt about that, even if there are transfer rumors. I want to stay, all you need to do is to understand what our owners want from us for next season. We have a really nice project here and I want to watch it grow," Mourinho concluded.
