With the high possibility of Henrikh Mkhitaryan departing for Inter, the Giallorossi have been aggressively looking for other options to replace the Armenian international.

The summer transfer window is set to open officially in many of Europe's leagues in a bit under a month, but the rumor mill is already in full swing.

Roma, who recently won their first European title as Jose Mourinho successfully steered the Giallorossi to victory in the inaugural Europa Conference League, are among many of the well-known teams already making plans to bolster their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign.

With reports buzzing that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to leave on a free transfer to Inter, Roma have to now make sure they have a back-up option in the event that the Armenian international ends up departing to play for the Nerazzurri.

According to reports in Italy, namely Calciomercato.com, the Lupi are apparently looking at trying to convince Real Madrid's Isco to move to the Stadio Olimpico. The 29-year-old Spanish international has playing time dramatically reduced as of late, and could be keen on making a switch in order to secure regular first-team football.

However, Roma are facing some stiff competition from AC Milan. Like the Giallorossi, the Rossoneri will head into the upcoming season having won some silverware, and the freshly-crowned Scudetto winners will also be looking to make some key signings in order to become more competitive on multiple fronts.

That being said, the same report claims that Roma just may have an edge, as they are apparently looking to offer Isco a three year deal as opposed to a shorter option that Milan have put on the table.
