Man City and Liverpool eyeing Arsenal star

Huge concern for Arsenal as Man City and Liverpool are eyeing Emirates Stadium star

June 7, 2022 By Ali M.
The Gunners look to offer this attacker a new deal, but interest from the Cityzens and the Merseyside giants could complicate his long-term future in north London.

After ending the 2021/22 Premier League season in heartbreak by missing out on a top four finish and UEFA Champions League football, Arsenal's goal for this summer is to strengthen their squad and mount another push to return to Europe's premier club competition.

Unfortunately, not only are they facing tough competition for some of their key targets, but the Gunners could also be in for a fight to keep ahold of one of their star players. That person is none other than Bukayo Saka, the highly-rated Hale End Academy graduate who has risen to become one of the English top-flight's most promising attackers.

According to the Daily Mail, the two best teams in the country are closely monitoring the 20-year-old and they are Manchester City and Liverpool. As per the article, the Cityzens have "stepped up their interest' in Bukayo as the Englishman heads into the final two years of his current Emirates Stadium contract.

This puts the Premier League champions on par with Liverpool as the two clubs monitoring his long-term future in north London after the club missed out on UEFA Champions League football yet again. Interest from the two isn't surprising. Both clubs could do with a wide forward, with Riyad Mahrez being linked with a move away after a mixed season while Klopp could soon lose two key men in the form of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who are entering the final year of their contracts.

However, the article adds that a raid this summer is unlikely as there is little to suggest Saka will force an Arsenal exit immediately. Contract talks are on the agenda for Edu and Co. as they aim to offer the Englishman a new deal to secure his future. It will be interesting to see what wages he will demand, though, as he is now the club's key man in attack, having finished the recent season as their top scorer.

With Arteta eyeing moves for Youri Tielemans and Gabriel Jesus, the Spanish manager will look to keep Bukayo and add more experienced talent to his promising—but young—squad. Unfortunately, Chelsea and Real Madrid have been credited with interest in Jesus while the aforementioned Belgian midfielder is also said to be on Tottenham's radar.
