The Blues are looking to cut their losses and part ways with the wantaway striker.

Chelsea have opened up to the possibility of loaning Romelu Lukaku to Inter, a report from Italy has revealed. The two clubs are set to enter into discussions in the coming days to find a solution as the 29-year-old striker keen on returning to Milan.

Lukaku's fairytale return to Chelsea has not bode well for him in recent months with his supposed actions making him unpopular among the club's fanbase. Having completed a €115M move back to his boyhood club, the Belgian international has struggled to impress and nail down a regular spot in the side. An overly honest interview with Sky Italia towards the end of last year, has made the striker's stay with the London club unbearable with his desire to win back the fans proving to be futile.

With the relationship between the two parties now completely severed, Lukaku - who finished the season with 15 goals in all competitions - is expected to move on. According to a report by Sky Italia, the striker has been so keen on reuniting with his ex-teammates at Inter Milan to the extent that he has been sending public and private messages to club since Christmas. It is also claimed that he has been has been calling his former team mates, the coach, directors and the president, as he is "will do everything he can to leave Chelsea".

On Tuesday, Sky Sports reported that Chelsea are keen on sanctioning the departure of Lukaku as he is now considered surplus to requirement by manager Thomas Tuchel. As a result, the club will open negotiations with Inter and find a solution ahead of next season. A loan deal has been proposed as a more feasible option due to the player's current price-tag.
