The Norwegian superstar might have just joined the Cityzens, but his nearby future at the Etihad Stadium is already under speculation.

Erling Haaland might have just completed his move to Manchester City a few days ago, but the Norwegian's long-term future at the club is already under speculation.

After a prolonged transfer saga that saw the Cityzens, Real Madrid, and Barcelona all battle it out for the highly-rated striker, it was Guardiola's side who emerged triumphant, securing the 21-year-old sensation on a five-year contract.

However, despite having not even kicked a ball for his new employers, one club is allegedly plotting a move for the former Dortmund ace in the near future. To no one's surprise, that team is Real Madrid.

According to AS, Los Blancos are already looking ahead to a move for Haaland in 2024. Why in two years' time, you might ask. Several reports have suggested that there is a release clause in Erling's Etihad Stadium contract worth $159M which will come into effect in 2024.

This was said to be one of the player's demands when negotiating with all of the interested parties, meaning it isn't merely an escape route from Manchester. Nonetheless, if true, this clause could secure him a move elsewhere should he decide to jump ships.

Just as is the case with PSG star Kylian Mbappe, Haaland reportedly dreams of one day playing at Santiago Bernabeu, meaning the Spanish champions would simply need to trigger this clause if both the attacker and Los Merengues become keen on joining forces.

While this might be a worry for Manchester City fans, it should be noted that under Guardiola, the Premier League giants have become one of the most successful and most attractive clubs in world football. Maintaining this dominance will likely be key in Haaland's decision to stay for years to come or not.
