CR7's sale ruled out amid Chelsea interest

Man Utd disclose stance on Cristiano Ronaldo amid Chelsea transfer links

June 26, 2022 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Red Devils have come clean on the future of their superstar amid the interest from their Premier League rivals.

Manchester United have ruled out the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo despite reports of move to Chelsea. The Portuguese superstar is reportedly on the radar of the owner of the Blues Todd Boehly but will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer.

On Saturday, the Athletic reported that the agent of the Manchester United forward Jorge Mendes had been in a meeting with Chelsea's Boehly to discuss the future of the player. With the Blues yet to sign a player, the club's American owner aims to make a statement buy and the idea of bringing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to Stamford Bridge is reportedly one that fascinates him.

Although it is speculated that Ronaldo is unhappy as a result of United's inactivity in the transfer market, the Old Trafford club are said to be against any move that will see their star player departing. As per Sky Sports' report, the club has no intention to part ways with the player and are not considering the idea of sanctioning his sale to a direct Premier League rival.

Cristiano Ronaldo still has 12 months remaining on the two-year deal he signed to make a return to Manchester United for a second spell. Last season, the striker was the club's highest goalscorer with 24 goals in all competitions.
