Les Parisiens seemed ready to announce their first big signing of the ongoing transfer window, but a late bid could leave them empty-handed.

There are a few teams around the globe that can brag about being able to lure a player away from PSG since they seem to have unlimited funds, and that could be the case with the latest plotted move by the French club.

According to reports coming in from Italy, PSG's intentions to sign striker Gianluca Scamacca could find a major roadblock this week, as the French side could see the player being hired by another late suitor. The team in question is none other than West Ham, who are close to meeting Sassuolo's asking price of $45M.

According to transfer specialists Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano, the French side is not ready to offer more than $40M for the player's services, which could be decisive to see Scamacca joining the Premier League club.

Scamacca had an interesting 2021-22 season with Sassuolo, scoring sixteen goals in 38 apps across all competitions. Those numbers were enough for Italy boss Roberto Mancini to grant him his first call up to the senior team in 2021. So far, Scamacca has played seven games for the Azzurri with no goals scored.

The 23-year-old striker has been linked to teams such as Juventus and Lazio, although it seems his immediate future will have him playing for the Hammers.
