The Bavarians are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing the Manchester United star with their talisman's departure now imminent.

Bayern Munich are reportedly exploring the possibility of securing the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo with Robert Lewandowski's purported transfer to Barcelona gathering pace. The Bundesliga club had previously ruled out the idea of recruiting the 37-year-old Portuguese superstar but have apparently gone back on their word and are aiming to replace the departing Pole with the United star.

Latest reports from Spain has suggested that Lewandowski is on the verge of completing his move to La Liga after Bayern Munich accepted Barcelona's final proposal. The deal is expected to cost Los Blaugrana $50M with the potential to rise due to performance related add-ons. Relatively, the Polish striker, who is expected in Spain over the weekend for his medical and official unveiling, will be joining the club on a three-year deal.

Having fulfilled the heart desire of their talisman, Bayern Munich are now reportedly looking at replacing Lewandowski with Ronaldo in the coming days. The 37-year-old Portuguese forward was initially offered to Bundesliga club after declaring that he was open to move away from Manchester United this summer. However, the German club turned down the opportunity to sign the former Juventus and Real Madrid star. This was partly on the basis that the player does not fit into the club's philosophy and any potential deal would disrupt their wage structure.

Nevertheless, the latest development relating to Lewandowski could see Bayern making a U-turn for the the want-away Manchester United star. According to Spanish publication Marca, it is only a matter of time until the Bundesliga champions make an official bid to recruit Ronaldo, with just a year left on his current contract. On the contrary, the Red Devils still maintain that their poster boy is not for sale, with the player yet to return for the pre-season after having his vacation prolonged by the club.
