Last week, we reported that Roma and Napoli were engaged in a battle to secure the signature of Juventus's Paulo Dybala.
It now appears that the Giallorossi have won that battle, as new reports from Italy have noted that the 28-year-old Argentinian international has successfully undergone his medical and is set to put pen to paper on a three year deal. Dybala will earn about $6 million (€6 million) per season over the course of his contract, which will run through 2025 with the possibility of an additional year added on to make it a four year deal.
In addition, Dybala, who scored 115 goals in 293 appearances across all competitions for the Bianconeri, has also had a $20 million (€20 million) release clause added in his contract by his new employers.
While Roma, unlike Juventus, will not be featuring in the Champions League, and instead will be trying their luck in the Europa League, it is very likely that the prospect of linking up with Mourinho, who guided the Lupi to their first ever European title in the inaugural Europa Conference League, definitely made the move to the Eternal City an interesting project for Dybala.
The former Palermo man is one of two big name players Roma have secured on a free transfer so far this summer, with Manchester United's Nemanja Matic also making the move to the Italian capital to work with his former manger Mourinho.
